Mob after road accident, police car torched, 5 arrested

Kolkata: A vehicle met with an accident on National Highway-116 in West Bengal's East Mednapore. According to the report, a sand-laden truck hit an auto. One person lost his life and seven others were injured in the incident. The incident took place in Desai-Telipokur area of Marishada police station in East Mednapur district. Enraged by the incident, people set the police vehicle on fire. The national highway was completely blocked due to the commotion of the people.

According to the report, after receiving information about the fire, the fire department vehicles immediately rushed to the spot. Police dispersed the agitated protesters from the national highway after the lathicharge. Five people have been arrested for setting fire to a police car. Talking to the media, East Mednapur district Superintendent of Police Amarnath K said the accident took place on NH-116B.

The police officer said a truck full of sand was coming from the front. During this time, seeing the police car, the truck driver reduced the speed. In the meantime, a passenger bus came at a high speed from the front, due to the speed being high, the driver could not control it and in the meantime, the truck coming from the other side entered the auto. One person lost his life and seven others were injured in the incident.
