More terrorists were born as a result of the US war on terror: Imran Khan

According to media sources, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan claimed that the US's 'war on terror' fostered more terrorists, and that Islamabad was effectively a "fortress" throughout this time. When questioned about his thoughts on terrorism in the Middle East, the Prime Minister voiced his views during an exclusive interview with CNN journalist Fareed Zakaria, which aired on Sunday.

"The US's 'war on terror' has resulted in the breeding of terrorists." "I can tell you from Pakistan's experience that joining the US resulted in the deaths of 80,000 people," he added, adding that the conflict produced more terrorists as it progressed. "I'm certain it's the same thing that happened in Afghanistan." The US policy on night raids and drone attacks must be reassessed."

According to Khan, US residents were assured that the drone strikes were precise and that terrorists were targeted. "How would they solely (target) terrorists with bombs bursting in villages?" he wondered, noting that there was a lot of collateral damage.

"I'm afraid the American public was unaware of the magnitude of collateral harm" (that happened). "We took the worst of it."He said that Pakistan was viewed as a US collaborator and hence had to face retaliation attacks. "Suicide attacks were carried out over the country. 80,000 people were killed." "However, the US has departed, and terror persists," Zakaria observed, to which Khan responded that the assaults are now "much less."

"You can't compare now to when the 'war on terror' was at its peak." Islamabad was a bastion. Suicide attacks were taking place all over the place. Terrorism is now almost minimal in comparison to what used to happen."
