Lucknow: Sumaira Rana, the daughter of Munawwar Rana, a famous poet who opened a front against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), is now going to start a political inning. She is joining the Samajwadi Party. Sumaira Rana, who played an important role in anti-CAA protest at Ghantaghar in Lucknow, has been continuously raising voice against the Yogi government of the state. In particular, ever since the new legislation related to citizenship has been brought from the Parliament of the country in December 2019, she has been raising her voice against Modi at the Center and Yogi government of UP. Police action has also been taken against her. There were violent protests in many places in UP against the CAA, in which cases were filed against many people and they were sent to jail. Assets are also attached. Cases have also been registered against Sumaira Rana. In November this year, she was also under house arrest. Now that preparations for the 2022 assembly elections in UP are gaining momentum, Sumaira Rana has decided to go with the SP and start a political inning. Two leaders expelled from the BSP are also joining the SP today. These leaders joining are former MLAs Ramesh Gautam and Masood Khan. These two leaders will formally join the party by attending a membership program in SP Headquarters Lucknow. SP national president Akhilesh Yadav will also be present during this period.
