Ayushman Bharat Scheme benefits more than 45 lakh poor, here's report

Union Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan addressed the press briefing on the Ayushman Bharat fortnight at the National Media Center in New Delhi on Tuesday. He said, 'On September 23, we will celebrate the completion of one year of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme across the country. Ayushman Fortnight has been launched across the country from its inception on September 15, let us know in full detail.

In his statement, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said, 'Within every two seconds, an e-card is available to a person in the country under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. More than 45 lakh poor have been treated under the scheme. Also, 7500 crore rupees have been spent on these by the government. People have been made aware of this scheme by sending a handwritten letter.

The scheme was started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 25 September last year on the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya. Through this scheme, implemented across the country, health insurance was to be provided to the families of poor, neglected and urban poor people. Under this scheme, the beneficiary family gets medical insurance of five lakh rupees annually. The National Health Insurance Scheme launched by the UPA Government in the year 2008 has also been merged with the Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
