Sidhu became headache for Gandhi family again, demonstrated strength with 24 leaders

Chandigarh: Former Panjab Congress unit president Navjot Singh Sidhu has once again created a new problem for the party high command i.e. the Gandhi family. Sidhu had tendered resignation on the orders of interim president Sonia Gandhi after the party's defeat in Punjab. Since then, no Punjab Congress chief has been elected. In such a situation, Sidhu has once again started putting pressure on the Gandhi family to put himself in this post again by demonstrating his strength. In this order, Sidhu held a meeting with 24 of his supporters at Sultanpur Lodhi in Kapurthala district on Saturday.

Let us know that in the recent assembly elections in Punjab, Congress has suffered a humiliating defeat. The party was earlier in power in the state, but in the elections, it has got only 18 out of 117 seats. The leaders who held the meeting with Sidhu said that Sidhu has started meeting all the leaders to make the Congress stand back in Punjab. MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira, who attended the meeting, told an English daily that we want to revive the party. Let us know that Congress leaders are trying to make Khaira the leader of the opposition in the assembly. At the same time, the leaders are also demanding that Sidhu should be given the post of the president back in Punjab.

A former MLA who attended Sidhu's meeting told the newspaper that Sidhu had discussed the defeat and future of the election together with everyone. The leaders who attended the meeting also demanded that Khaira be made the leader of the opposition and Sidhu the Punjab Congress president again. Khaira also issued a statement that we know that the party will take future decisions on the basis of merit and honesty with a mandate of change. After the meeting, Sidhu said in a statement that we will fight for the right of Punjab with good thinking and seriousness.
