Amritsar: After resigning from the post of Panjab Congress president, Navjot Singh Sidhu not only praised Punjab's newly elected CM Bhagwant Mann but has also described it as the beginning of a new era. In a tweet, Sidhu said that a new anti-mafia era has begun in Punjab. Bhagwant Mann was sworn in as the 17th Chief Minister of Punjab on Wednesday. Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh's swearing-in ceremony was held at his village, Khatkar Kala. Sidhu tweeted, "He is the happiest person no one expects. Bhagwant Mann has ushered in a new anti-mafia era in Punjab. Hopefully, he will live up to the expectations and take Punjab back on the path of reform. He is expected to make policies keeping the people in mind. After almost eight months of tug of war in the Punjab Congress, Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned from the post. In fact, Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi had sought the resignation of the state presidents after the humiliating defeat in the elections. After which Sidhu tweeted, "As the Congress President has wished, I have sent my resignation.'' After the landslide victory of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab, Sidhu had said that the people of Punjab have taken the right decision and laid a new foundation. After that, they were also severely criticized. "I congratulate the people of Punjab that they have taken a very good decision and laid a new foundation. People have changed. We should accept the mandate politely because the voice of the people is the voice of God.'' Now that Sidhu's tweet is being linked to his new politics by some people, people say that Sidhu, who left the BJP and joined the Congress, can now hold the AAP's broom.
