Another big blow to NCP before Maharashtra assembly elections, MP Bhosle will join BJP

MUMBAI: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has suffered another setback ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Udayanraje Bhosale from Satara Lok Sabha seat of Maharashtra is going to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday. Earlier, he would submit his resignation to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Friday night.

Bhosle, an MP from Satara, will visit BJP national president Amit Shah's residence on Saturday and will take BJP membership there. Union ministers Nitin Gadkari and Ramdas Athawale will also be present during this period. MP Udayanraje will travel from Satara to Mumbai and from there he will reach the national capital Delhi on Friday evening by special plane with CM of the state Devendra Fadnavis.

On reaching Delhi, he will submit his resignation to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla at night. Udayanraje P. Bhosale, a three-time MP from NCP from Satara Lok Sabha seat, is a descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he defeated Narendra Annasaheb Patil of BJP, who has been a former Shiv Sainik. Before the commencement of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the veteran leader leaving the party in this manner is considered a big blow for NCP chief Sharad Pawar and the opposition.
