Neeraj Chopra's big statement- 'Whatever I have achieved so far...'

It is a real achievement for any sportsperson to win a gold medal at the Olympic Games but India's javelin throw star athlete Neeraj Chopra has to speak about the fact that his best is yet to be done and he is going to try to achieve the 90-metre mark in this year's competitions.

Last year, at the Tokyo Olympics, the 24-year-old Chopra had won India's first Olympic gold medal in athletics with an effort of 87.58m in the men's javelin throw event. He became the second Indian after shooter Abhinav Bindra to win an individual gold medal at the Olympics. Chopra has said that his goals this year are to throw a javelin past the 90-metre mark, apart from defending a medal at the World Championships and his titles at the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.

Chopra told a sports website that "I always feel that the way I have performed so far and what I have achieved is not the 'best'. I think I'll really try to do better than that in the future. It's good to see that the whole country believes in me and expects a lot from me.''

Where he has said about this, "I have been trying to reach 90 meters for a long time. I think I can actually do that in the near future. There is no pressure on me to throw a spear beyond 90 metres, but I will be working on my technique with my strength and speed to achieve it this year. Chopra's personal best is 88.03m.''
