NEET-UG Counselling Postponed Indefinitely Amid Paper Leak Row

NEET-UG counseling has been postponed indefinitely, leaving aspiring medical students in limbo, according to official sources said.

This decision comes after concerns about the examination's integrity, prompting authorities to reevaluate and devise a new schedule. The Medical Counselling Committee, responsible for allocating seats in MBBS, BDS, and BSc Nursing programs, had initially planned to announce the NEET UG 2024 counseling schedule by July 6th.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) had informed the Supreme Court that the NEET counseling process would begin on July 6th. The NTA also confirmed that a NEET re-test was conducted on June 23, with results expected by June 30 to facilitate the July 6 start date. The examination proceeded and results were declared as planned.

NTA on NEET UG Cancellation The NTA stated to the Supreme Court that canceling the NEET-UG 2024 exam would be detrimental to public interest and the career prospects of successful candidates. In an affidavit responding to a petition, the NTA explained that the alleged leak incident did not significantly impact the overall examination held on May 5. The number of candidates implicated by investigators is minimal compared to the total number who took the exam.
