Lucknow: A Hathras court on Thursday sent controversial website AltNews co-founder Mohammed Zubair to 14-day judicial custody. Mohammed Zubair was produced before the court in a case registered under Sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, etc.), 295A (intentional and malicious act with intent to hurt the religious sentiments of a class). The court of Hathras Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Hathras had recently issued a B warrant against Mohammed Zubair. It may be recalled that the Uttar Pradesh government has constituted a two-member SIT headed by IG Dr Preetinder Singh to investigate the six cases registered against Mohammed Zubair in Sitapur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Ghaziabad, Muzaffarnagar and Hathras. Earlier, the Supreme Court had extended Zubair's interim bail in a case registered against Mohammed Zubair, who is lodged in the Sitapur district on charges of hurting religious sentiments, till further orders. On June 1, Hindu Sher Sena district president Bhagwan Sharan lodged a complaint against Mohammed Zubair over a tweet. In fact, Mohammed Zubair in his tweet had described Hindu saints – Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati, Bajrang Muni and Anand Swaroop – as hate mongers.
