Numerous users worldwide cannot access Google's email service

USA: Having problems using Gmail? You are not alone though. Thousands of users around the world are facing problems with Google's email service, the US tech giant has confirmed.

According to outage monitoring website DownDetector.com, the problem started at 8 am (6.30 pm IST) in several countries, including the US. Google has not yet disclosed the reason.

Around 6.30 pm, there was a sharp increase in Gmail outage reports from the US and the UK. In the US, the number of reported cases has now exceeded 10,000.

The dreaded red X appearing on the Google Workspace status dashboard later confirms the fears. Is it a server problem or a cyber attack to blame? We are unsure.

Apart from Gmail, other Google products were also affected in the UK. Users reported trouble opening programs such as Google Nest, Google Drive, and sometimes the Google homepage.

It appears that India, like other countries, is also experiencing a blackout of Gmail service. However, this appeared to be short-lived, as the number of reported outages is rapidly declining.

Unlike the UK, only Gmail was affected by the outage, and services quickly resumed. We will have to wait to see if Google India responds.

Gmail went down for millions of users around the world in December 2022 due to a technical issue, affecting both mobile and desktop users. Several countries at the time, including India, Australia, Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom, reported outages. Users were then forced to deal with issues such as emails that were not delivered and the application becoming unresponsive.
