NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, February 28 said that people see the government as a catalyst for new opportunities and not as an obstacle. PM  made the remark while addressing a post-budget webinar on 'Ease of Living using Technology'.

"People no longer view the government as a barrier to opportunity; rather, they see it as a catalyst for new ones. Undoubtedly, technology has had a significant impact on this. The Prime Minister added that "the lack of trust between the government and the people is the product of a mindset of slavery and today the good influence of the policies and decisions of the government is visible where it is needed the most." 

He noted how a certain group of individuals always looked for government intervention and expected it to perform well for the people, highlighting the inconsistencies in the aims of the previous governments.

However, Modi said that their entire life was spent in the absence of these facilities. He also brought attention to a different group of people who desired to advance but were slowed down by pressure and barriers put up by government interference.

People are now able to convey their views to the government and get their solution right away, as the government has created a modern digital infrastructure in India, the Prime Minister added. We are also making sure that everyone in society benefits from the digital revolution. He emphasised that in order to increase trust with society, the nation must learn from international best practises.

The One Nation One Ration Card, the JAM (Jan Dhan-Aadhar-Mobile) trinity, the Arogya Setu and CoWin App, railway reservations, and common service centres are just a few examples of how technology has made life easier, PM said. He also emphasised the perception that people have of how simple it is to communicate with the government and how quickly issues are resolved. PM  gave examples of the faceless resolution of income tax system-related grievances."Now, there is only technology standing between your complaints and redressal," the source said. The Prime Minister requested that different ministries consider using technology to address their issues and meet international standards. Going a step further, he said, "we can identify the areas where discussions with the government can be further eased", he added.
