Odisha govt takes action against 8 more officials on Corruption Charges

Bhubaneswar: Officials from the Odisha government said on Friday that eight more officials, including three OAS (Odisha Administrative Service) personnel, have been given compulsory retirement due to corruption charges.

The Chief Minister's Office announced in a statement that "eight personnel have been awarded compulsory retirement with immediate effect owing to inefficiency and lack of integrity, after a thorough assessment of the policy of zero tolerance towards any act of immorality, inefficiency, or lack of integrity."

Rama Chandra Jena, Gouranga Charan Mohanty, and Alphonce Bilung are the three OAS officials. Rama Chandra Jena, a former Tehsildar and in-charge, sub-registrar of Nimapara, is accused of three counts of corruption, according to the statement. Several PAN cards and over 5 lakh rupees were recently taken from his custody by Vigilance. Since then, he had been placed on probation. Also, Former deputy collector of Jagatsinghpur Gouranga Charan Mohanty is facing seven vigilance cases connected to misappropriation of government funds and anomalies in the allotment of government programs, according to the report.

Similarly, Alphonce Bilung, the former Tehsildar of Lathikata in Sundargarh district and current BDO of Ambabhona in Bargarh district, has been accused of favoritism in land conversion and revenue collection. He is currently facing three vigilance cases.
