Odisha: One person killed in an IED blast near a Maoist poster.

BHUBANESWAR: On Wednesday, a young man was killed in an IED (improvised explosive device) blast in Odisha's Kandhamal district, which authorities say was planted by Maoists.

The incident happened near a Maoist poster at Sadingia-Kiamunda village in Kandhamal district's Phiringia police station, barely four days after a journalist was killed in a similar blast in Kalahandi district. According to the police, the dead has been identified as Priyranjan Kanhr, a native of Kiamunda village.

The explosion occurred about 200 metres from where Maoists set fire to two road construction equipment on Monday night.

The Maoists have also placed some hand-written banners at the site, urging people to boycott the next Panchayat elections and demand the removal of CRPF camps from the area and district, as well as adequate remuneration for labourers.
