PM Modi dreams of making India 'Open Defecation Free'

New Delhi: In a speech, Prime Minister Modi had said that more than 5.5 lakh villages and 600 districts have become open defecation free and more than 98 per cent of rural India has come under the ambit of cleanliness. Of this, 9 crore households have been provided with toilets. "On October 2, 2014, we had embarked together to clean the country and make the open defecation free".

Due to the clear cooperation of the people of the country, India was supposed to complete the target of open defecation free today much earlier than October 2, 2019. The target had been set to pay tribute to Bapu on his 150th birth anniversary. PM Modi had said that under this competition, people keep their toilets clean.

After which several pictures of such toilets surfaced on social media from Kanyakumari to Kutch to Kamrup in Assam. Prime Minister Modi urged Sarpanchs and Gram Pradhans to lead the campaign by sharing several photos of clean and beautiful toilets located in their panchayats on social media.
