Another BJP worker killed in Bengal, 162 party workers killed in last 6 months

Kolkata: Another BJP worker has been killed in West Bengal, which has been accused by the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) of the state. With the election results coming out in the state on May 2, the violence against BJP workers still does not seem to have stopped. The body of Debesh Burman, an active BJP member, has been found hanging from a tree in South Raiganj (Vishnupur). As soon as the information was received, a huge crowd gathered there.

The BJP's West Bengal unit has said that they have become victims of hatred. Terming it as a murder by TMC goons, the party said that a brutal massacre of BJP workers is going on at the behest of Mamata Banerjee. BJP IT cell President Amit Malviya also said that such incidents are taking place every day in West Bengal. He has demanded an immediate halt to the killings under the "protection of the ruling party".

The BJP has released data on the killings of its workers. The BJP said 162 party workers have been killed in the last six months. Giving this figure, BJP leader Samik Bhattacharya said, BJP leaders led by BJP state president Dilip Ghosh will stage a dharna against the violence in West Bengal. He said the Report of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is just a tableau.
