All existing animal markets have been allowed to remain closed during Eid. PETA India said they checked 23 illegal animal markets in several areas including Andheri, Byculla, Govandi, Jogeshwari, Kurla, and Mankhurd in Mumbai. They found that more than one lakh goats have been brought here from different States including Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat for sale. in a complaint to CMO, the PETA alleged that the transportation of animals from such markets and various states is a violation of the Covid Protocol and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act, 1960, Transport of Animals Rules, 1978.
