New Delhi: The growing menace of Monkeypox has triggered panic among the people of the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR). People are reaching out to hospitals to check in the fear of monkeypox even if there is a normal allergy to the skin. Priyanka, 28, who lives in Noida, has said that after seeing a red rash on her leg, she felt that she was in the grip of monkeypox. On the same day, these rashes spread throughout her body. Priyanka said, "There are many discussions going on about Monkeypox. At first, I thought I was also infected with it. I got scared and I saw the pictures of it (monkeypox infection) and read the news. I then called my doctor, who tried to allay my fear, but it was only after the rash disappeared that it was a normal skin allergy.'' Like Priyanka, many patients suffering from skin allergies are reaching hospitals in Delhi-NCR, who fear that they have been hit by monkeypox. The first case of Monkeypox was reported in Delhi on Sunday. Dr Ramanjit Singh, a dermatologist at Medanta Hospital, said, "Due to increased awareness, people are coming to hospitals to confirm if their symptoms are of monkeypox.''
