PM Modi to inaugurate National Youth Festival on Jan 12

New Delhi: The 26th National Youth Festival will be formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 12 in Hubbali, Karnataka, a statement from the Prime Minister's Office read.

"The event is being hosted on National Youth Day, which is observed on Swami Vivekanand's birthday, in honour of and admiration for his values, teachings, and contributions, "PMO said.

Every year, the National Youth Festival is conducted to encourage young people to contribute to the development of their country while also giving them national visibility. It connects the participants in the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat and combines varied cultures from throughout the nation on an one stage.

The festival is being hosted in Hubballi-Dharwad, Karnataka, this year from January 12 to January 16 under the theme "Viksit Yuva - Viksit Bharat." 

The Youth Summit, which will feature plenary discussions on five themes drawn from G20 and Y20 events, including the Future of Work, Industry, Innovation and 21st Century Skills, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction, Peace Building and Reconciliation, Shared Future-Youth in Democracy and Governance, and Health & Well-Being, will take place during the festival, according to an official statement from the PMO.

At the summit, more than 60 renowned specialists will take part. There will also be a number of competitive and non-competitive events. Folk dances and songs will be performed as part of competitive activities that aim to support regional traditional cultures.

There will be non-competitive events, such as the Yogathon, which aims to inspire over 10 lakh people to practise yoga.
