PM attends New Parliament building’s Bhoomi pujan on Dec 10

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the foundation stone laying ceremony of the new Parliament building on December 10, confirmed by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Saturday. Speaker also announced that the new building will become operational by August 15, 2021.

While making the announcement, Om Birla said it has been decided that the foundation stone laying ceremony of the new Parliament building will be held on December 10 at 1 pm. The ceremony will begin with 'bhumi pujan' by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he added.

The new building will be constructed near the existing building under the Central Vista Redevelopment Project. It is being told that the construction work is expected to be completed in 21 months. The Central Vista Redevelopment Project envisages the reconstruction of a new Triangular Parliament House, a Joint Central Secretariat and a three-kilometer long Rajpath from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate.

The Lok Sabha Speaker further announced that on the completion of the 75 years of India's independence, we will commence the session of both the Houses in the new Parliament building.
