PM Modi to inaugurate Mumbai-Nagpur Super Expressway-Ist Phase tomorrow

NAGPUR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to inaugurate the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Mahamarg (Super Communication Expressway) on Sunday, December 11.

The 520-kilometer-long Phase-first is part of the total 701-kilometer Super Expressway project linking the state capital Mumbai with Nagpur, passing through ten districts.

It is one of the nation's longest greenfield six-lane expressways and is being built at a cost of about Rs 55,000 crore. It will reduce the current travel time between the two cities from 16 hours to just eight hours.

The Prime Minister will also dedicate the Nagpur Metro first-Phase and take a ride from Freedom Park Metro Station to Khapri Metro Station, lay the foundation for the Phase-second, of the project costing Rs 15,000 crore, approximately.

Later, he will lay the foundation stone for more rail projects costing about Rs. 1,500 crore at Nagpur Railway Station and flag off the Vande Bharat Express' Nagpur-Bilaspur route.

The PM will dedicate the state-of-the-art AIIMS Nagpur, built at a cost of over Rs 1,575 crore to the nation,  and lay the foundation stone of the National Institute of One Health Nagpur, to be built for over Rs 110 crore.

The Prime Minister will inaugurate the Centre for Research Management & Control of Hemoglobinopathies, and dedicate the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and  Technology, in Chandrapur, and lay the foundation for the Rs 1925 crore river pollution abatement project in Nagpur, under the National River Conservation Plan. In the afternoon, the PM  will fly to Goa where he has a series of other engagements lined up.
