India condoles the passing away of Kuwait's Emir

New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind and PM Narendra Modi have condoled the passing away of former Kuwait Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabbah. Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has also arrived in Kuwait to show solidarity at this time of grief.

Dharmendra Pradhan has also left for the new leadership of Kuwait with a letter from President Ram Nath Kovind and PM Modi. His visit reflects India's close ties with oil-rich Kuwait. Kuwait is also India's sixth-largest crude oil supplier.  On Emir's death, Dharmendra Pradhan wrote on Sunday, "I am on a two-day visit to Kuwait to convey condolences on behalf of the Government of India on the passing away of former Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah."

The External Affairs Ministry had issued a statement saying that Dharmendra Pradhan will also congratulate Kuwait's new emir Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah and Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, who assumed responsibility as crown prince. Former Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed died on September 29 at the age of 91.
