PM Modi at Rozgar Mela: Citizen Is Always Right

NEW DELHI: The motto of government should be "Citizen is always right," Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday, drawing a comparison to the phrase "customer is always right" used in the corporate world.

The Prime Minister made his comments while speaking virtually at the "Rozgar Mela," during which around 71,000 appointment letters were given to new hires in government ministries and organisations.

"The consumer is always right, as the saying goes in business. Similarly, the governing principle should be "the citizen is always right," "added PM Modi. In highlighting the government's dedication to fostering "employment and self-employment opportunities," PM Modi noted that the latter's opportunities rise in times of rapid development.

"We are dedicated to consistently generating employment and independent business opportunities. Opportunities keep growing as infrastructure progresses. Opportunities for self-employment multiply exponentially in environments of fast development. The sphere of self-employment is developing today, " he said. The prime minister added that the government had made sure that young people could find work and advance, which he described as "real confidence-boosting measures."

"With regard to the problems with the holdup in promotions and related legal proceedings, our government has handled them effectively. The real sources of youth confidence are employment and progress. Our government also made sure of both " he said adding that "The selection procedures for positions with the Central Government are now more time-bound and streamlined than ever."

The young people were urged by the prime minister to continue using technology for self-learning. "Don't miss the chance that technology offers today's generation to study for themselves. What propels each of us forward in life is the need to learn new things constantly "he said.

"Even in the villages of today's India, there are entrepreneurs who are well-versed in digital technology. I'm pleased to have realised this. Keep your spirits up and continue forward with courage, passion, and devotion, I implore you all "said PM Modi. In response to the opposition's ongoing criticism of the government's job-creation efforts over the past eight years, the prime minister organised the "Rozgar Mela" to attract 10 lakh people.
