PM Modi, CM Mamata condoles on loss of lives in Kolkata fire, announces compensation

Kolkata: A major fire on the 13th floor of a multi-storeyed building in Kolkata?s Strand Road area is reported. In the incident around nine people lost their lives in the blaze of fire. 

PM Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee have should condolence towards the loss of lives. Both have announced compensation for the kin of the deceased and those injured in the incident. CM Mamata was also reported to spot after the news of the incident. CM Mamata announced the state government will pay a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the families of those killed in the inferno. Whereas PM Modi expressed sympathies and approved an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakhs each from PM National Relief Fund due to the tragic fire in Kolkata. Also, Rs 50,000 would be given to those seriously injured. 

 

 

Sources say the 10 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to extinguish the flames. The incident took place at around 6:10 p.m on Monday. According to information received, the fire is now under control and the cooling process is on. Here are the names of the four fire brigade officers that perished in the fire are Girish Dey, Biman Purokayet, Gaurav Baij, Aniruddha Jana. The ASI has been identified as Amit Bhawal.
