NEW DELHI: In honor of the 24th Kargil Vijay Diwas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid heartfelt tributes to the valiant souls who fought in the Kargil conflict, emphasizing their heroic saga as a perpetual inspiration for all Indians. "Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorates the indomitable spirit of our bravehearts, whose exceptional courage continues to inspire the nation. On this momentous day, my heart bows down to them in deep respect. Long live India!" tweeted PM Narendra Modi in Hindi. President Droupadi Murmu also paid her respects, affirming that the stories of these bravehearts will forever ignite the fire of bravery in generations to come. "Today, on the glorious occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, the entire nation cherishes the triumph achieved by the extraordinary valor of our armed forces. On behalf of our grateful nation, I pay tribute to the memory of these fighters who, through their ultimate sacrifice, secured our nation's safety. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar took to Twitter to offer his tributes to the fallen soldiers. "On Kargil Vijay Diwas, let us stand together as a nation, saluting the courage and unwavering commitment of our brave soldiers. We shall forever be grateful for their service and sacrifices," tweeted S Jaishankar. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, on Wednesday, arrived in Drass, Kargil district of Ladakh, to mark the 24th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. The day is observed annually to pay homage to the fallen soldiers of the 1999 Kargil conflict with Pakistan. The Raksha Mantri laid a wreath at the Kargil War Memorial, paying tribute to the fallen bravehearts in the icy heights of Kargil. Army Chief General Manoj Pande also offered floral tributes to the fallen jawans at the Kargil War Memorial, while Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar laid a wreath in memory of the bravehearts. Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Anil Chauhan, joined in the solemn occasion, laying a wreath at the Kargil War Memorial to honor the fallen soldiers in the Kargil conflict.
