PM Modi reached Chandigarh to pay his last salute to Prakash Singh Badal, crowd gathered for darshan

Chandigarh: PM Narendra Modi paid last respects to former Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal. Along with the Prime Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar also reached to pay homage. Badal's body has been kept at the Shiromani Akali Dal head office in Sector 28, Chandigarh. Badal's body has been wrapped in the Akali Dal flag.

His body will be taken to his native village in the afternoon. He will be cremated on Thursday. Due to the demise of the former Punjab CM, the Punjab government has declared a public holiday on April 27. Renowned personalities of the country have reached to have darshan of Badal's body. Finance Minister Harpal Cheema and Education Minister Harjot Bains have come from the Punjab government. Many close friends and relatives including Bahujan Samaj Party President Jasbir Singh Gadi, HS Hanspal, former Finance Minister Upinder Jeet Kaur, BJP MLA KD Bhandari visited him and paid tributes.

Parkash Singh Badal became the Chief Minister of Punjab for the first time in the year 1970. He was on this post for the last time in the year 2017. He was also the patron of the Sikh-centric party Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). Badal also served as the Chief Minister of the state from 12 February 1997 to 26 February 2002.
