New Delhi: For the honest taxpayers in the country, PM Modi will launch a platform called 'Transparent taxation - Honor of honest' through video conference on Thursday i.e. today. Union Finance Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs Anurag Singh Thakur will also be present during the event. A statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office regarding the program said that besides the officials and office bearers of the Income Tax Department, various chambers of commerce, trade associations and chartered accountant associations as well as well-known taxpayers will be present during the event. The office statement said that the platform that PM Modi will launch for 'transparent taxation - respect for honest' will take the journey of direct tax reforms even further. Indeed, the Central Board of Direct Taxes has recently implemented several ego reforms in direct taxes. Last year, the rate of corporate tax was reduced from 30 per cent to 22 per cent and for new manufacturing units this rate was further reduced to 15 per cent, with the dividend distribution tax also removed. Let us tell you that several initiatives have also been taken by CBDT to bring efficiency and transparency in the working of Income Tax Department. In a statement issued by the PMO, the focus has been on reducing tax rates and simplification of direct tax laws under tax reforms.
