West Bengal: Mamta government withdraws lockdown

Kolkata: The Mamta Banerjee government of West Bengal has changed the previously announced dates for the entire lockdown in the state for the sixth time within three weeks. The Mamta Banerjee government has withdrawn the lockdown decision on August 28. On behalf of the government, due to the possibility of banking services being affected due to it being Saturday on August 29 and Sunday on August 30, it has been told.

According to the government, the demand for lockdown was continuously coming on August 28 from many areas. At the same time, this decision of the government has been declared as appeasement by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Opposition BJP leader Rahul Sinha called Mamata Banerjee's administration incompetent and said that this government is completely incompetent. The date also had to be changed six times for lockdown. He said that the government has now found the flaw that banking services will be closed. Sinha questioned why the government did not consider it before announcing the dates for the lockdown?

Accusing CM Mamata Banerjee of politics of appeasement, BJP leader Rahul Sinha said that the real reason for amending the date is due to Muharram on August 29. He said that on 29 August, Muharram is in such a situation that the government does not want to put a lockdown a day before that. Rahul Sinha said that even during the time of pandemic, the government is engaged in politics of communalism.
