Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized the Congress-led Karnataka government on Tuesday for not taking action in the sex scandal involving JD(S) MP and NDA's Hassan Lok Sabha candidate Prajwal Revanna. Amit Shah expressed the BJP's support for an investigation into the matter and questioned Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi over the government's inaction.

In a press conference in Assam, Shah emphasized that the case was a law and order issue of the state, where Congress is in power. He stated, "The BJP's stance is clear: we stand with the 'Matri Shakti' (women's power) of the country. I want to ask Congress: who is in power in Karnataka? It's the Congress party's government. Why haven't they taken any action so far? Priyanka Gandhi should ask their Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister." Shah continued, "We don't need to take action on this because it's a law and order issue of the state.

The state government must act on it." Amit Shah's comments followed Priyanka Gandhi's remarks questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Home Minister on how Prajwal Revanna was able to leave the country after allegedly committing crimes against women. At a rally in Karnataka's Kalaburagi, Priyanka Gandhi stated, "They know where I or other opposition leaders go, but a criminal like this, a demon, leaves the country, and they don't know?"
