G 7 Summit: Modi-Trump meeting to be held shortly, discussions may take place on J&K

PARIS: US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are scheduled to meet for the first time after offering mediation in the Jammu and Kashmir issue. Meanwhile, India has recently removed Section 370 of the Constitution from Jammu and Kashmir. This is the first meeting between PM Modi and Trump since the changed situation in Kashmir.

In the past few days, President Donald Trump has made three statements on the mediation between India and Pakistan. However, he also stressed that the two countries should resolve the issue among themselves. Amid the global slowdown, Modi-Trump talks are likely to take place on the issue of defence and Afghanistan besides trade between the two countries.

For these reasons, all eyes are on the meeting between PM Modi and Donald Trump. According to sources, the meeting will last for about 45 minutes. Modi and Trump meet on sidelines of G7 summit This will be PM Modi's second meeting with Donald Trump this year. Earlier, the two top leaders met in Osaka, Japan, to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries.
