PM Modi says formula for improving agriculture, says revolution is needed after harvesting crops

New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi on Monday stressed the need for post harvest revolution after harvesting, citing rising production in the agriculture sector. He said that despite the unprecedented challenges posed by the global epidemic corona virus, hardworking farmers produced records. In a message on the occasion of the foundation day of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), PM Modi said, "In view of the ever increasing agricultural production, there is a need for revolution and value addition after harvesting. PM Modi's message was read out at a function held here."

In his message, he said, "We are moving towards our efforts at a rapid pace to achieve this goal. We are taking comprehensive steps to achieve a technology-based solution ranging from irrigation to sowing, harvesting and income. The Central Government had passed three new agricultural laws from Parliament last year, but its implementation has been postponed due to agitation by some farmers against it. In January this year, the Supreme Court had stayed the implementation of the three laws and constituted a committee to resolve the deadlock between the agitating farmers' organisations and the government."

PM Modi had said that the government's effort is to encourage young entrepreneurs in the agriculture sector and spread startups. "We are pushing for a scientific ecosystem, speeding up development in line with the aspirations of the villages and trying to transform the economy of the agriculture sector with holistic thinking.''
