PM Modi expresses concern over violence in Bengal after election results

Kolkata: Violence has been going on in West Bengal since the results of the assembly elections were released, with vandalism and arson in different areas. Meanwhile, PM Narendra Modi has spoken to Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and expressed concern over the situation. West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar tweeted this on Tuesday afternoon. He wrote that PM Modi today spoke over the phone and expressed concern over the ongoing violence in Bengal.

In West Bengal, the results of the elections have been declared on Sunday, May 2, after which violence has continued in the state. Several districts of Bengal have reported sabotage, arson, looting, rape, and murder. The BJP has also alleged that shops of its supporters, workers have been looted and houses set on fire in several areas including Nandigram, Kolkata, Asansol. Not only that, women have been raped while many activists have been murdered.

In Bengal, nearly five people have been killed so far in the post-election violence, while the BJP says 9 of its workers have been killed. On the other hand, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) alleged that their workers have also been targeted in many areas and their offices have been ransacked and set on fire.
