NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the Rozgar Mela today, 20 February, via video conferencing.  The Prime Minister had launched Rozgar Mela in October 2022 on the occasion of Dhanteras. The Rozgar Mela has envisaged a campaign to provide 10 lakh central government jobs.

"The Rozgar Mela will be a key step in achieving the Prime Minister's ongoing commitment to ensuring the welfare of residents and offering job opportunities for the young. All Ministries and Departments are operating in "Mission Mode" to fill open positions in accordance with the Prime Minister's directives. Prime Minister's Office had said in a statement about the Rozgar Mela.

Since then, the Prime Minister has addressed Rozgar Melas of several states including Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir and Maharashtra.

He had handed out over 71,000 appointment letters earlier in January 2023 to newly hired candidates in government departments and organisations.

The PM also launched a Karmayogi Prarambh module for online orientation courses for all new appointees in various government departments while distributing about 71,000 appointment letters to newly inducted recruits.

Of these positions, 2.93 lakh are in the railways, 2.64 lakh are in the defence (civil), and 1.43 lakh are in the department of home affairs.
