PM to chair NITI Aayog's 7th Gov-Council meeting on Sunday

NEW DELHI: On Sunday, August 6,  Prime Minister Narendra Modi will preside over the seventh meeting of the NITI Aayog's Governing Council at Rashtrapati Bhawan Cultural Centre in the national capital.

The meeting's agenda covers,  urban governance, implementation of the National Education Policy-school education, implementation of the National Education Policy-higher education, and crop diversification and achieving self-sufficiency in oilseeds, pulses, and agri-communities, among other things.

"As India commemorates 75 years of Independence, there is a reinforced need for the states to be agile, resilient and self-reliant and move towards 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' in a spirit of cooperative federalism," NITI Aayog said in a statement.

"In the thrive towards building a  sustainable, steady and inclusive India, the 7th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog will be held in August and will pave the way for synergies towards a new era of collaboration and cooperation between the Centre and States/ Union Territories," the NITI Aayog said.

The National Conference of Chief Secretaries, which was the end of a six-month-long strenuous exercise by the Center and states, was conducted at Dharamsala in June 2022 as part of preparations for the conference.

The meeting was chaired by the Prime Minister and attended by the Chief Secretaries of all states and Union territories, along with senior officials of the Central and state governments. "The seventh Governing Council Meeting will endeavour to finalise a roadmap and result-oriented action plan on each of the above themes," it said.
