PMK calls for Tamil Nadu TN govt to generate 1 lakh govt jobs

CHENNAI: The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), the political arm of North Tamil Nadu's influential Vanniyar community, has urged Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to create 1 lakh government jobs to enable people secure their life and reduce unemployment.

Dr. S. Ramadoss, the founder of the PMK, said in a statement on Sunday that the state can learn from Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwat Mann, who promised shortly after his inauguration that his government would generate 25,000 new government employment.

According to the PMK leader, the Punjab economy is debt-ridden and considerably smaller than Tamil Nadu's, thus providing 1 lakh government jobs for the state's unemployed youth would not be a difficult task. He said, the DMK's election promise was to create more government employment and fill vacancies in state government entities. The PMK founder leader stated that the government has a responsibility to keep its election pledge and create more youth jobs in the government sector.

Dr. Ramadoss also urged Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to hire part-time lecturers and teachers in government colleges and schools on a permanent basis. He also pushed Stalin to make the remarks during the state Legislative Assembly's current session.
