Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Saturday that the Bhagavad Gita should be included in school curricula. Only on Friday was the issue mentioned in Gujarat. "Our education minister has been talking about incorporating the Bhagavad Gita into the curriculum. A decision would be made after receiving information from the education department in this regard "He elaborated.

When asked if the Bhagavad Gita could teach moral precepts to children, he answered that if not the Bhagavad Gita, what other scripture could? Children require moral instruction in this competitive age, according to CM Bommai, who asked that there be no unnecessary confusion in this regard. He believes that incorporating the Bhagavad Gita into the curriculum will benefit children's intelligence.

On Friday, Education Minister B.C. Nagesh announced that a decision on requiring Bhagavad Gita lectures in schools will be made after talking with Chief Minister Bommai. Minister Nagesh noted that there is a growing desire for moral science to be included in children's curricula since it has a positive influence. In Gujarat, it would be implemented in three stages.

S.M. Krishna, former Union Minister for External Affairs, used to declare that he reads the Bhagavad Gita every day for strength. Minister Nagesh added that in this country, all tall leaders and elders who have thought about the nation have spoken favourably of the Bhagavad Gita.

In his autobiography, Mahatma Gandhi stated that his mother's lectures on the Ramayana and Mahabharath as a child helped him grow into a true person. He also stated that Satya Harishchandra's enactment influenced him to be truthful, Minister Nagesh said.
