This year is proved to be very bad for Bollywood as various big-budget Bollywood movies called for Boycott which directly affected their Boxoffice collection. Recently Aamir’s Laal Singh Chaddha called for Boycott due to which the movie failed on Box office. Prakash Jha speaking about the Boycott trends and failure of Laal Singh Chaddha said, "A film can’t be made only through money, corporates, and paying a high fee to the actors. One needs to write a good story that makes you understand and entertains." He further added, "If you don’t have a story to tell, stop making films," while further adding that looking out for remakes has made the makers 'lethargic' and lose sight of originality. "If Dangal, Lagaan tanked (at the box office), then we could have understood that it happened because of the boycott. But you have made a film that didn't meet with a favorable reception. I am yet to find someone who has said, ‘wow, what a film it was.” Meanwhile, earlier writer Atul Kulkarni on Laal Singh Chaddha failure wrote, , “When destruction is celebrated as if it were a spectacle, the harsh truths are reduced to debris. #globalphenomenon”, it hinted at the disastrous result of Laal Singh Chaddha “When destruction is celebrated as if it were a spectacle, the debris.#globalphenomenon#TheEffectOfBoycottBollywood #Laal Singh Chaddha “. Another one wrote, “Dear @atul_kulkarni however hard one tries to make a movie blockbuster or boycott the film on social media will Never work! It’s the movie with its content, story, and the complete package around that will Only work. Your movie #LaalSinghChaddha is really a bad film. #globalphenomenon.” On the work front, Prakash Jha was critically acclaimed for the 2020 mystery web series Aashram, starring Bobby Deol, Trisha Chaudhary, and Esha Gupta.
