Preparations underway the G20 Summit scheduled for Sept 9-10 in Delhi

NEW DELHI: The G20 summit will be held at the newly inaugurated convention complex at Pragati Maidan. The 18th G20 Heads of State and Government Summit in Delhi will mark the culmination of a year-long series of meetings among ministers, officials, and civil societies.

Around 35 hotels have been reserved by various missions and the Ministry of External Affairs to accommodate guests and dignitaries attending the summit, including renowned five-star establishments like Taj Mahal, Taj Palace, Maurya Sheraton, Le Meridien, Shangri-La, Imperial, Oberoi, and Leela.

Sources indicate that notable leaders such as US President Joe Biden might stay at ITC Maurya, while Chinese President Xi Jinping could be at Taj Palace.

Local hotels are also gearing up for the event by enhancing their kitchens, decor, and services to cater to the guests. In alignment with the G20 principle of Atithi Devo Bhava, many hospitality chains have made special arrangements. The G20 website reveals that a Leaders' Declaration will be adopted at the end of the summit, outlining the leaders' commitment to the priorities discussed during the ministerial and working group meetings.

To prepare for the summit, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has initiated a cleaning drive for 26 prominent city roads starting on August 16. These roads include Mathura Road, Bhairon Marg, Sachivalaya Road, Purana Quila Road, Lodhi Road, Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar Marg, Suraj Kund Road, and Mahatma Gandhi Road.
