President Ram Nath Kovind reaches Jammu for IIM's convocation

JAMMU: President Ram Nath Kovind arrived in Jammu on Thursday to address the Indian Institute of Management's (IIM) fifth annual convocation.

"The Hon'ble President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, will be the Chief Guest at IIM Jammu's 5th Annual Convocation on June 9, 2022" tweeted IIT Jammu. The honourable visitors would be Union Minister Jitendra Singh and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. 

A total of 214 students will receive an MBA degree, with 77 of them being female. The diversity cell at IIM Jammu will also be inaugurated by the event president.

For the President's visit, security arrangements have also been beefed up in Jammu.

IIM Jammu and the Jammu and Kashmir Skill Development Department (SDD) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Civil Secretariat in Jammu. Professor BS Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu, and Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, Principal Secretary of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, signed the MoU.

The President will speak at the Central University of Himachal Pradesh's 6th annual convocation in Dharamshala on June 10, 2022.
