LUCKNOW: President Ram Nath Kovind stated on Monday that while the ruling party and the opposition may have differing ideologies, there should be no hatred between them.

The President said at a joint session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council and Assembly that the state legislature has a long tradition of respectful cooperation between the ruling party and the opposition.  "There have been some ignoble cases that run counter to this illustrious legacy. You must make a conscious effort to forget them by treating them as an exception.

"You must all work to strengthen the U.P.'s long political tradition. There may be ideological differences between the ruling party and the opposition in a democracy, but there should be no hatred (vaimanasya) between the two sides " said the President.

The legislature is the temple of democracy, and the people see public representatives as their bhaagyavidhata (one who decides the destiny). he said. "The people of the state have high hopes and expectations of you, and it is your most essential task to meet those expectations.

"Your public service must encompass all citizens, regardless of whether they voted for you or not. Hence, it is your job to act in the best interests of all people "he said.
