President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, who is the Visitor to central universities, has approved the appointment of Vice Chancellors (VC) for 12 such universities, including those in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu. An official said that the Vice-Chancellor appointments have been approved by the President for 12 central universities, which include central university of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Hyderabad. Prof Tarkeshwar Kumar, Prof Sat Prakash Bansal and Dr Sanjeev Jain have been appointed vicechancellors of central universities in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu, respectively. Appointments have also been made for central universities in Jharkhand, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Hyderabad. The Central University of South Bihar, Manipur University, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, North-Eastern Hill University and Guru Ghasidas University have also got new Vice Chancellors. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan informed the Rajya Sabha that 22 posts of VCs were vacant, out of which appointments to 12 posts had already been finalised.
