Volkswagen has announced that it is going to increase the prices of Polo, Vento and Mid-Size SUV Taigun from January 1 of the New Year. Volkswagen is now one of the many carmakers to confirm price hikes since January. Like many other brands in the country, Volkswagen is said to be responsible for rising input and operating costs for price hikes. How much will the price go up: The price rise on the basis of model and variant is going to be between 2 per cent and 5 per cent. Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, said, "Due to the substantial increase in input and operating costs, we have decided to increase the prices of our product from 2 per cent to 5 per cent and keep the impact on customers at the lowest level. Over the years our effort is going to make our brands, products and services more accessible and establish Volkswagen as a brand of choice among our customers." At this time, Volkswagen is introducing a number of models such as Tiguan and Tiguan AllSpace along with the above-mentioned models. But all eyes are also set to be on a mid-size Sedan set to launch in the Indian market in early 2022. While demand for new products is likely to increase, rising costs worldwide and lack of semiconductor chips are said to be major challenges. Other cars like Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Audi and Mercedes have already confirmed price hikes.
