Puducherry BJP leaders to meet cm to discuss giving posts to independent MLAs

PUDUCHERRY: The BJP leadership in Puducherry will meet with Chief Minister N. Rangasamy soon to discuss issues with the NDA government's Independent lawmakers.

These MLAs recently met with Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to voice their dissatisfaction with not being considered for any government positions.

Following the meeting, key BJP leaders from the Union Territory met on Thursday with Nirmal Kumar Surana, the party's Puducherry coordinator.

Senior BJP leaders will meet with the Chief Minister to consider MLA appointments as Chairmen of Public Sector undertakings, boards, corporations, and quasi-governmental entities.

Surana met with the three independent MLAs as well as BJP legislators on Thursday at the party's state headquarters.

The BJP leadership, according to Nirmal Kumar Surana, would try to persuade the Chief Minister of the importance of appointing these MLAs to corporations or boards.

Notably, the UT's local body elections are approaching, and the BJP, which does not have a representation in the territory, wants to make a statement by giving positions of authority to independent MLAs who are aligned with the party.
