It is worth mentioning that Dr. Hedgewar founded the association in the year 1925 on the occasion of Vijayadashami (Dussehra). Its purpose was to organize Hindu society culturally and spiritually. Former President and senior Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee created a stir in the anti-union camp by visiting the Sangh headquarters at the invitation of the Sangh chief.
