New Delhi: The Supreme Court, while giving a big verdict on Wednesday, has banned the use of sedition law. After this decision of the court, former national president of Congress Rahul Gandhi has attacked the central government. Rahul Gandhi has said that speaking the truth is patriotism, not sedition. Sharing the news related to the ban on the sedition law, Rahul Gandhi wrote in a tweet that, 'Speaking the truth is patriotism, not sedition. Telling the truth is patriotism, not treason. Listening to the truth is the state religion, crushing the truth is obstinacy. do not fear!'

Let us tell you that while banning the use of sedition law i.e. 124A, the top court said that till reconsideration, a new case should not be registered under this law. The central government will issue instructions to the states regarding this. The top court said that the status quo should be maintained on the cases pending under this law. At the same time, the court has said that those against whom cases are going on on charges of sedition and they are imprisoned in jail on the same charges, they can file an application in the courts for bail. Now the matter will be heard in the third week of July.

Let us inform that on Wednesday, a petition challenging the constitutional validity of the sedition law was heard in the Supreme Court. During this, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, while demanding not to stay the law, said that there will be a clear instruction from the Central Government to the states that without the approval of District Police Captain i.e. Superintendent of Police or above level, FIR in sedition sections. will not be recorded. At the same time, appearing for the petitioners, advocate and Congress leader Kapil Sibal had demanded before the court that there is a need to stop the sedition law immediately. While staying the sedition law, the court said that protecting the rights of citizens is of paramount importance. This law is being misused.
