New Delhi: After the historic decision of the Supreme Court regarding the sedition law, the reactions of many people have started coming. Soon after the apex court's decision, Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju said that he respects the court and its independence, but there is a "lakshman rekha" which cannot be crossed.

Let us inform that after the decision of the top court, the sedition law will remain on hold for the time being, because the central government is yet to review it. Till then the accused imprisoned in jail on charges of sedition can approach the court for bail. The Supreme Court today rejected the Centre's argument that such cases should continue in courts as they may involve charges like terrorism. Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju told the press that, 'We have made our position very clear and have informed the court about the intention of our Prime Minister.

He said that, we respect the court and its independence. However, there is a 'Lakshman Rekha', which should be respected by all the organs. We have to ensure that we respect the provisions of the Indian Constitution as well as the existing laws. Rijiju has said, 'We respect each other. The court should respect the government, the legislature, so the government should also respect the court. We have a clear demarcation of the boundary and no one should cross the Lakshman Rekha. Kiren Rijiju, however, appeared to refrain from answering the question when asked whether the apex court's decision was wrong in his view.
