Jharkhand Assembly Elections: Rahul Gandhi takes charge of campaign

Ranchi: Former Congress national president and star campaigner Rahul Gandhi will come to Simdega on December 2 to campaign in the second phase of Jharkhand assembly elections. Apart from Congress leader and Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel and Jharkhand Congress in-charge RPN Singh, no big Congress leaders had reached Jharkhand for campaigning in the first phase elections.

BJP's National President and Home Minister Amit Shah will address public meetings in Chakradharpur and Bahragoda. Amit Shah was scheduled to meet in Sisai and Simdega on Sunday, but his program was cancelled. At the same time, tremendous enthusiasm is being seen among Congress leaders regarding Rahul Gandhi's visit to Jharkhand. Rahul Gandhi will address public meeting in Simdega. The chief leaders of the grand alliance will also be invited to the gathering place.

This time the Congress is contesting elections in alliance with JMM and RJD. In Simdega Assembly seat, the main contest is being held between Congress candidate Bhushan Bara and BJP candidate Shraddhanand Besra. BJP's Vimala Pradhan won these seats in the 2014 assembly elections. He defeated Jharkhand Party candidate Menon Ekka by more than 3000 thousand votes. This was his second consecutive win. In the 2009 assembly elections, Neem Tirkey of Vimala Pradhan Congress was defeated.
