Mumbai: After the formation of a non-BJP government in Maharashtra some time ago, even though the Rashtriya Janata Dal may be making efforts to form a coalition of non-BJP parties in Bihar, the Janata Dal has distanced itself from such efforts. In such a situation, the Maharashtra formula does not seem to be applicable in Bihar. JDU general secretary KC Tyagi on Saturday evening ruled out the possibility of any such alliance. Talking to Amar Ujala, he said that his alliance with BJP and LJP is very strong. Due to the coming of different backgrounds, they may have different opinions on some issues, but there is no conflict between fellow parties. He said that even though the RJD and JDU had fought the elections in Bihar, the leadership was still with Nitish Kumar and still belongs to him.

According to sources, earlier RJD leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh had said that if non-BJP parties come together in Bihar and Maharashtra formula is implemented then BJP will definitely lose. He said that to defeat BJP, Nitish Kumar has no other option than to come with RJD. On this, Tyagi says that the reasons like- corruption, familism, and narrow casteism for which JDU left RJD are still there. Lalu Yadav's family members, including RJD president Tejashwi Yadav, are still under trial for corruption. Therefore, there is no scope for coordination with them.

JDU is the elder brother in NDA: It is also being said that in the last Lok Sabha elections, to keep JDU together, BJP gave the formula to fight for 17-17 seats and also gave 5 of its seats to JDU quota. Recently, BJP President Amit Shah called JDU a big brother in the NDA alliance and gave indications to contest next year's assembly elections under his leadership.
