Baran: A 13-year-old minor girl from Bihar was allegedly sold twice for marriage within 17 days in Baran district of Rajasthan. Police have arrested five persons, including the girl's mother, on charges of human trafficking. The Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Baran District, Vijay Swarup, informed about the case and said that the incident occurred when the girl was left on the roadside in the Snatbarud police station area last Tuesday and was produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). According to a CWC report the next day, the police registered a case against eight persons under various sections of IPC and initiated the investigation. The minor victim, in her statements to CWC, alleged that her family had sold her for One lakh rupees and married her on 7th December against her wishes from the Banwari of Chanvalkhedi Thana Chhula. The girl told the police that when she protested against the marriage, the family brought her to Geeta Singh, who lived in Chandikhedi, and sold her for Rs 1 lakh 21 thousand and made her married to Mukesh for the second time on December 24. Now the police have arrested 5 persons in the case and are investigating further.
