New Delhi: Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu administered the oath of office to five newly elected Rajya Sabha Members from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Odisha in the Rajya Sabha chamber of Parliament House on Friday. Niranjan Reddy Sirgapoor and Ryaga Krishnaiah (both YSRCP) from Andhra Pradesh, Damodar Rao Divakonda and B Parthasaradhi Reddy (both TRS) from Telangana, and Niranjan Bishi (of BJD) from Odisha took the oath. Niranjan Reddy Siragapoor took his oath in English, while Ryaga Krishnaiah, Damodar Rao Divakonda, and B Parthasaradhi Reddy took theirs in Telugu. Niranjan Bishi was elected to the Rajya Sabha in a bye-election to fill the casual vacancy created by Subhash Chandra Singh's resignation. He swore his oath in Oriya. Harivansh, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha, V Muraleedharan, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and External Affairs, Rajya Sabha Secretary-General, and other senior Rajya Sabha Secretariat officers were also present. Previously, the MPs were elected unopposed from their respective states.
